The short version. You can delete your account from inside the app in under a minute, no questions asked. It is permanent: your account, everything you published and everything tied to it is gone. If you cannot use the app, email us from the address of your account and we do it for you.

From the app

  1. Open BLAB. and go to ProfileSettings (the gear).
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  3. Confirm the first dialog.
  4. Type the confirmation word — Delete (capitals and accents do not matter) — and continue.
  5. Confirm the last alert. There is no way back after this one.

The app signs you out at once, and the deletion runs on our servers right away. If you had a draft or muted words on the device, they are wiped too. If you want a copy first, do Settings → Your data before step 2: after deletion there is nothing left to export.

What gets deleted

Your @name becomes free for someone else to take. Backups roll over within 30 days.

What may be kept

Reports — the ones you filed and the ones others filed about your content — may be kept without your identity attached, so that we can keep moderating fairly and answer legal requests. Nothing in them can be linked back to you once the account is gone. Copies of your posts that other people had already shared outside the app (a screenshot, a link preview cached by a chat) are outside our reach.

By email instead

If you no longer have the app, cannot sign in, or simply prefer it, write to [email protected] from the email address of your account (the one you used with Apple or Google; if you hid it with Apple's relay, write from the relay address you can see in your Apple ID settings) and tell us your @name. We will confirm by replying to that same address and delete the account within two business days. We cannot act on requests that come from a different address, because we have no other way to know it is you.
